  • We complain a lot about the Millennial generation—that they are entitled or impatient—but we are missing the point. The Millennials are simply responding to the forces that shaped them, and even more importantly, they are shining a light on some bigger changes in leadership and management that are happening today. In this provocative session, Jamie Notter, an expert on both generations and workplace culture, will outline the key forces that shaped Millennials and then share his research that identified four internal capacities that leaders from every generation must embrace in order to thrive in the Millennial era.

  • Millennials – a generation which includes entire generation Y and the first part of generation Z. They were born between 1980 and 2001. And they grew up isurrounded by information. You can hardly find someone among them who has ever used an analogue phone. According to generation X, millennials are optimistic but in their optimism doesn’t have any objective background. Employers are thrilled about Millennials because they often put career development above their family. Even though the society is breaking into atoms and cherishes individualism, Millennials crave for team work. London Business School research shows that 43 % of Millennials want to co–create a better world and better companies. Don’t you also want to live in a world like that?

Jamie Notter

Jamie is a culture consultant at Human Workplaces, where he helps leaders drive growth by activating and aligning workplace culture. He began his career in the international conflict resolution field, running training programs in areas of ethnic conflict in the 1990s. He transitioned into organizational work, initially as a diversity trainer and consultant, and later leading his own management consulting practice, where he specialized in helping systems work through their most difficult conversations. In 2014, he and Maddie Grant started Culture That Works, a workplace culture consultancy, and in 2016 they joined forces with Charlie Judy to create WorkXO and the Workplace Genome culture assessment, which they use extensively in their consulting practice. Jamie and Maddie have written two books together (When Millennials Take Over, and Humanize). An accomplished and sought-after keynote speaker, Jamie carries a master’s degree in conflict resolution from George Mason University, and a Certificate in Organization Development from Georgetown, where he serves as adjunct faculty.

dr. Aleksander Zadel

Dr. Aleksander Zadel, founder and director at the Corpus, Anima, Ratio Institute for Personal Development and founder of eCoaching platform Potendo, holds a PhD degree in psychology. He was a professor in the department of Biopsychology at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (University of Primorska). For more than 20 years he has been a mentor and coach to many Slovenian companies and leaders: he consults Slovenian and international companies on how to develop sovereign and autonomous solutions, based on their potentials and wishes in order increase personal satisfaction and efficiency. He is an established coach for business leaders, who also conducts psychological assessments and profiling.

Perry Timms

Perry Timms is Founder and Chief Energy Officer of PTHR, Chartered Member of CIPD; 2x TEDx and international speaker; Author of Transformational HR; Adjunct Faculty and Visiting Fellow of Hult International and Sheffield Hallam University Business Schools and Guest Professor at GEA College in Ljubljana. He is known for being the force behind many HR Hackathons; creating new and imaginative ways of working. I will start with a confession: I have a reaction to the generational categorisation and words like Millennials.  Whilst I accept certain different cultural norms, expectations, experiences and how the world is in your formative years, I don’t think we can typecast people simply based on the period of their birth.

About a decade ago, a new generation started entering the workforce (the Millennials), and the older generations began a long period of constant complaining about them—they are entitled, they are too informal, they are too impatient…the list goes on. I find this incredibly frustrating for a couple of reasons.
